The 6 PM Dilemma, Solved

The 6 PM Dilemma: Why Dinner Is the Hardest Decision of the Day (and How We Fixed It)

It's 6 PM. Everyone's hungry. Nobody knows what to eat.

You know this moment. The fridge stare. The "what do you want?" — "I don't know, what do YOU want?" loop. The slow surrender to another night of takeout or another hour chained to the stove.

We call it the 6 PM Dilemma, and it's the most stressful part of the day that nobody talks about.

Your two options both stink

Option 1: Takeout. 45 minutes of waiting for food that arrives lukewarm and never quite as good as it looked in the photos — soggy fries, congealed cheese, the works. It solves hunger. It doesn't feel like dinner.

Option 2: Cook from scratch. An hour of prep and cooking (if you're fast), plus a sink full of dishes, plus the mental load of deciding WHAT to cook in the first place. On a Tuesday? Hard pass.

There had to be a third option. So we made one.

Meet the Taco Kit

The Taco Kit is Santo Pecado's taco bar, packed up for your kitchen. Everything we serve at our famous Toronto taco bars — the slow-cooked meats, the fresh salsas, the warm tortillas — delivered chilled to your door, ready in the fridge, whenever you are.

Here's what's in the box:

  • 4 proteins of your choice — pork carnitas, beef barbacoa, chicken tinga, chicken pibil, beef suadero, mushrrooms al pastor, buffalo cauliflower, nopalito, green beans
  • 24 fresh corn tortillas
  • Mexican rice and stewed black beans
  • 4 topping — salsa verde, pico de gallo, queso fresco, and Mexican crema

Dinner is on the table in 10 minutes. Zero cooking. The only decision left is: corn tortilla, obviously.

The math actually works

$149 feeds 4 to 6 people. That's roughly $25–37 per person for a real, satisfying dinner — and since one kit makes about 6 full portions, tomorrow's lunch is already handled. Try getting that from takeout.

And here's the smart move

If you plan a little, taco night also solves the rest of your week. Portion the proteins, rice, and beans into containers and you've got lunches that don't taste like sad meal prep — warm a tortilla, pile it on, done.

Got kids? Pack them their own little taco kits for school: tortillas in one container, protein and toppings in another. They assemble their own tacos at lunch, and suddenly you're the cool parent.

That's dinner tonight, lunches all week, and school lunches — from one $149 box.

How it works

  1. Order online at santopecado.ca — pick your 4 proteins in the order notes (or let our chef surprise you)
  2. Order by 1 PM for same-day delivery across Toronto & the GTA ($10 flat)
  3. Assemble, eat, repeat. Tortillas warm in 2 minutes. Everything else is ready to go.

Dinner tonight. Lunch all week. The 6 PM Problem: solved.
